Recently I was at a national fast-food taco restaurant with my son. We had purchased our food and sat down to eat. Like every 13 year old boy he was still hungry. So I went back to the counter to purchase more food and they could not accept credit cards at that time.
Their server in the back of the store went down and they were waiting on someone to come and repair it. So what did they do? Everyone that came in the restaurant received free food! I don’t know how much they lost in revenue at the time, but this shows why having a Business Continuity plan is so critical. If your systems are down, do your people know what to do or will they start giving away free stuff?
